1978 BRDC International Trophy

This would be Keke's first victory in a F1 car in only his second ever Formula One race. The race was run in torrential rain with many of the original 17 cars retiring with accidents. This was the last BRDC International Trophy to be held using non-championship Formula One rules.

1980 Spanish Grand Prix

This non-championship race was scheduled to be part of the 1980 F1 World Championship, but following the running of the race it was announced that points would not be awarded, This was due to the manufacturer teams of Ferrari, Alfa Romeo and Renault taking part in the race due to issues regarding the FISA–FOCA war.

1981 South African Grand Prix

The race was originally scheduled to be the opening round of the 1981 F1 World Championship, but was instead run as a Formula Libre race due to the ongoing war between FISA and FOCA. All 19 cars of the FOCA teams attended but the FISA teams including Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Ligier and Renault failed to appear. As the event was under Formula Libre regulations the teams present ran illegal sliding side skirts and aerodynamic devices.
